Head of Legal
Breaking Silence Movement is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending gender-based violence globally. The Head of Legal will lead the legal strategy and aid efforts, providing guidance to legal volunteers and ensuring responsible legal practices aligned with the organization's mission.

Responsibilities
Provide legal guidance related to survivor support cases, ensuring ethical, survivor-centered, and legally sound approaches
Oversee and support Legal Aid volunteers and interns, including onboarding, guidance, and coordination
Advise the Executive Director and leadership team on legal considerations affecting programs, partnerships, and operations
Help develop and review internal legal protocols, disclaimers, and boundaries around legal support
Review memoranda of understanding (MOUs), partnership agreements, and basic legal documents as needed
Support long-term strategy around access to justice for immigrant and marginalized communities
Serve as a point of escalation for complex or sensitive legal questions within the organization
Qualification
Required
Licensed attorney or advanced law student with relevant experience
Knowledge of or interest in gender-based violence, family law, immigration, child protection, or human rights law
Strong ethical judgment and understanding of trauma-informed, survivor-centered practice
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly and thoughtfully
Organized, reliable, and comfortable providing leadership in a volunteer-driven environment
Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams
Alignment with Breaking Silence's mission to end gender-based violence
