Therapy Intern (Semester-Only, Unpaid)

The Parent Child Center of Tulsa is seeking a Therapy Intern to learn about infant and early childhood mental health. This position involves observing therapeutic modalities under the supervision of a licensed therapist and engaging in professional learning opportunities related to trauma and mental health.

Responsibilities

Observe protective parenting group intake assessments
Observe protective parenting groups and individual parent education
Observe and co-lead (under the supervision of an onsite licensed therapist) therapeutic sessions utilizing evidence-based modalities
Engage in professional learning opportunities particularly in the areas of IECMH and trauma
Develop an understanding of reflective supervision, vicarious trauma, and how to consistently incorporate self-care strategies
Assist with other duties as assigned

Qualification

Master's in Social WorkLPCLCSWLMFT licensureComputer skillsFamily systems knowledgeTrauma knowledgeAttachment theory knowledgeChildren 0-12Collaboration with child welfareCommunication skills

Required

Currently engaged in a master's degree program in Social Work, Counseling, Community Mental Health or another related field with plans to seek licensure as LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or other related mental health licensure
Excellent communication skills, writing skills, and ability to communicate with different audiences
Proficient computer skills (ex. Excel, word, & other Microsoft platforms); good organizational skills

Preferred

Working knowledge of family systems, trauma, attachment theory, and treatment strategies for infants, children, and caregivers
Experience and interest in working with children ages 0-12, caregivers, and families
Experience and interest in collaborating with child welfare & the juvenile court
