Responsibilities
This position requires the ability to complete assigned work orders in a timely manner
Provides a safe and sanitary environment for patients, family, staff, and self
Performs basic plumbing, electrical repair, steam fitting and general maintenance
Services equipment by lubricating, cleaning, replacing parts, and making minor adjustments
Performs building maintenance requiring basic carpentry, electrical, painting, plastering or HVAC
Operates, maintains and assists in repairing boilers, refrigeration units, air conditioning units, ice machines electronic and pneumatic controls
Understands and able to safely operate an repair all central plant equipment, including, but not limited to boilers, chillers pumps compressors
Performs electrical installation and maintenance
Understands the operation of electrical motors, controllers and related electrical equipment
Is able to wire up and install standard 110 and 220 volt outlets
Understands refrigeration system and chilled water systems
Test runs emergency generators and understands the operation of transfer switch
Performs plumbing installation and maintenance
Installs and maintains hospital equipment (i.e. bulletin boards, file holders, pictures)
Understands and able to perform preventive maintenance of all equipment as assigned
Ability to patch penetrations in walls, fire walls and paint
Qualification
Required
Must have minimum of two year's experience in construction, carpentry, plumbing, painting, or HVAC
Must have demonstrated experience, proficiency, and expertise in one or more of the above areas
Working knowledge in various mechanical hand held tools required in the performance of the trade
Working knowledge of power equipment, drills, saws, pneumatic tools, compressor, airless sprays
Working knowledge of pumps and pumping system
Working knowledge of scaffolding and ladders
Working knowledge of trucks and forklifts
Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate effectively
Ability to interact effectively with patients, customers and associates in a way that exhibits superior integrated customer service and teamwork
Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy while directing co-workers
Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks effectively and efficiently
Excellent organization and problem solving skills
Ability to work within defined time constraints
Ability to take initiative and follow through
Preferred
Previous experience within the healthcare industry
Basic computer skills
Bilingual in Spanish a plus
