Responsibilities
Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes
Performs routine tasks designed to provide experience and familiarization with engineering staff, methods, practices and programs of Xcel Energy
Assists with planning and design projects, provide technical support and guidance for design, construction and operations
Work with Supervisor on assignments with unusual or difficult problems
Receives close supervision on new aspects of assignments
Prepares schedules and estimates for specific projects, may analyze reliability, system or program deficiencies
May be involved with area teams to determine opportunities and set action plans
Participates in planning, engineering and operational study teams or committees
Qualification
Required
Studies for and completes nuclear training and qualifications
Four year B.S. degree in engineering or a related technical field from an American Board of Engineering Technology (ABET) accredited college or university
Engineer I = 0 years minimum experience
Engineer II = 2 years minimum experience
Engineer = 6 years minimum experience
Senior Engineer = 8 years minimum experience
A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks)
Preferred
Previous commercial power plant or nuclear experience
Familiar with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel (BPV) code
Familiar with Inservice Testing (IST) in the BPV code
Familiar with 10 CFR 50 Appendix J for containment leakage testing
