Responsibilities
Providing reliable part-time coverage for all school days 0600 to 0900 and 1500 to 1700 Monday through Friday throughout the school year, not to include holidays, scheduled school breaks, weather down days, or non-instructional days as designated by the school district
Passing a background check for Peterson Space Force Base access and child protection
Successfully completing training based on the Colorado Department of Transportation School Crossing Guard Training Manual
Setting up traffic barriers and employing proper safety equipment (e.g. vest, stop signs, etc.)
Understanding the traffic laws, signs, and speed limits posted within a designated jurisdiction
Vigilantly watching for impending dangers to preclude potential incidents and accidents
Effectively communicating crossing rules and regulations to pedestrians and motor vehicle operators to ensure their mutual safety
Reporting unsafe behaviors and accidents
Serving as a school district role model
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Must be able to pass a T-1 (Public Trust) clearance to enable Peterson SFB access
Candidates must successfully pass a background check and drug test
Crossing Guards shall be a minimum of 18 years of age
A qualified Crossing Guard cannot have a history of being removed from a prior Crossing Guard position, volunteer or otherwise
