Laser Welding Programmer Technician

The Laser Welding Programmer Technician is responsible for developing, programming, and optimizing advanced 5-axis 3D laser welding processes for complex components, ensuring high-quality weld results and supporting production and new product introduction.

Responsibilities
Develop, simulate, and optimize 5-axis 3D laser welding programs using Siemens Sinumerik One controls
Program laser welding paths using TRUMPF Teach Panel and 6D mouse technology to define tool paths and optimal nozzle orientations on complex 3D surfaces
Configure and program VisionLine Detect camera systems to identify workpiece features and apply real-time positional corrections
Optimize welding parameters using BrightLine Weld Comfort to achieve high feed rates while minimizing spatter and ensuring weld quality
Configure FocusLine Professional settings, including programmable focus positions and beam aspect ratios based on material thickness and geometry
Lead the prove-out and validation of new part recipes, including parameter tuning and first-article support
Monitor and log real-time laser power data using Active Laser Power Control to ensure consistent and repeatable weld results
Troubleshoot welding issues related to optics, focus, vision alignment, and laser parameters to reduce downtime and scrap
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to support continuous process improvement and new product launches
Maintain accurate documentation for welding programs, parameters, and process standards
Qualification
Required
Experience programming and operating industrial laser welding systems, preferably 5-axis or robotic platforms
Hands-on experience with Siemens CNC controls (Sinumerik preferred)
Familiarity with TRUMPF laser systems, teach panels, and welding technologies
Strong understanding of laser welding principles, optics, focus control, and material interaction
Experience working with vision systems for seam tracking or part recognition
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
Strong troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing or production environment
Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced shop floor setting
Preferred
Experience with BrightLine Weld Comfort, FocusLine Professional, and VisionLine Detect
Background in high-volume or high-precision manufacturing environments
Strong attention to detail and process discipline
Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally
Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical teams
