Benefits Accounting Consultant - Hybrid (South Atlanta)

Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries related to employee benefits, including health plans, retirement plans (e.g., 401(k)), pensions, and other compensation-related programs
Reconcile benefit-related balance sheet accounts and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Ensure benefit accounting complies with GAAP, SOX, and applicable regulatory requirements; assist with internal and external audits
Analyze benefit-related transactions and variances, providing insights to support financial reporting and decision-making
Partner with HR, Payroll, Tax, and Operations teams to ensure accurate data flow, reporting integrity, and timely issue resolution
Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to benefits and compensation costs
Provide data and documentation to support tax filings, audits, and compliance reviews related to employee benefits
Identify opportunities to improve, streamline, and automate benefit accounting processes and controls

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Strong foundation in GAAP and corporate accounting principles
Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls
Proficiency in Excel and experience working in ERP or financial systems (e.g., SAP)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive mindset with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement

Preferred

CPA certification
Prior exposure to accounting for employee benefits, compensation, or payroll-related accounts
Experience with Alteryx, SQL, or Power Query
