TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT SERVICES (TES) Staff Research Associate (SRA 3)
The University of California, Davis is seeking an experienced Staff Research Associate (SRA 3) to support advanced sequencing and transcriptomics research. The role involves managing complex projects, coordinating workflows, and ensuring high-quality data delivery while maintaining laboratory operations and providing mentorship to staff and trainees.

Responsibilities
Support cutting‑edge sequencing, single‑cell RNA‑seq, and spatial transcriptomics research
Partner closely with investigators to design and manage complex projects
Coordinate reagents and workflows, and deliver high‑quality data on time and within budget
Plan and execute high‑throughput sequencing runs
Perform data quality control and support downstream analysis and publication efforts
Contribute to the smooth operation of a shared research laboratory by maintaining protocols, instrumentation, and safety compliance
Provide training and mentorship to staff and trainees
Qualification
Required
Degree in genetics, molecular biology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience with Illumina sequencing platforms and sequencing library preparation methods
Experience planning research projects and interacting directly with researchers and collaborators
Experience with core molecular biology techniques, including protocol refinement and troubleshooting
Preferred
PhD in genetics, molecular biology, or a related field
Experience with single‑cell RNA sequencing and/or spatial transcriptomics technologies
Experience using robotic liquid handlers for high‑throughput sample processing, including program modification and troubleshooting
Basic cell culture experience
Experience supervising staff
Experience using Unix/Linux command‑line tools for data processing or analysis
