6+ years expCynet Systems is seeking a System Firmware Test Engineer to validate new and evolving firmware features at the platform level. The role focuses on defining and executing system and firmware test flows with an emphasis on automation, regression testing, and system-level validation.

Responsibilities
Partner with firmware architects and domain validation engineers to understand new and evolving firmware features
Define and implement platform-level end-to-end test flows to validate firmware functionality across boot and runtime
Develop detailed regression test cases and test procedures aligned with automation and continuous integration practices
Ensure test designs are automation-friendly and compatible with existing or new test frameworks
Execute tests, debug issues across firmware, platform, infrastructure, and automation layers, and collaborate with developers to drive defect resolution
Contribute to test strategy and coverage analysis, with focus on system-level feature interactions and cross-domain dependencies
Participate in test infrastructure enhancements to improve test coverage, efficiency, and reporting
Spend approximately 20 percent of time on test content creation and 80 percent on test execution
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in firmware or software development or validation
Experience with pre-silicon and post-silicon firmware and system test environments
Strong debugging skills at the SoC and system level
Experience with computer architecture concepts and enterprise-class server platform features
Prior experience working with embedded firmware
Strong programming skills in C and C++
Scripting experience with Python, Perl, or similar languages
Knowledge of BIOS concepts including ACPI and SMBIOS tables
Experience with RAS features and validation
Experience validating memory subsystems including DDR, persistent memory, and error injection
Knowledge of power management and telemetry
Experience with platform security features such as TPM, SPDM, secure boot, and root-of-trust-based attestation
Understanding of virtualization and firmware enablement including ACPI and SR-IOV
Experience with high-speed I/O validation including PCIe and CXL
Knowledge of sideband protocols such as MCTP, SPDM, PLDM, and RDE
Preferred
Bachelor s or Master s degree in a related discipline preferred
