Responsibilities

Planning and performing design development tasks from concept to implementation
Studying and evaluating disciplinary or interdisciplinary aspects of new product or design concepts, including all necessary functions leading to presentation and recommendation of possible solutions
Ensuring adequate performance of designs for all stages of design and development, or complexity
Providing technical advice and particular expertise to department personnel
Timely completion and adequacy of the assigned development task for performance and compliance with standards
Adequate documentation of the performed task including description, specification, testing and implementation
Clear presentation of developments or designs at design reviews
Independently taking control and completing assigned major sections of a new product development effort
Troubleshooting production floor problems and completing design changes, as a result of investigation

Required

Advanced knowledge of analog and digital circuit design
Knowledge of systems and experience with their practical implementation
Working knowledge of LTSpice, OrCAD, Verilog/VHDL
Ability to direct board layout designers to produce FCC compliant designs
Ability to support other departments including troubleshooting circuit boards as needed
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including documentation, reports, and interaction with manufacturing and engineering teams
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and development of electrical or electromechanical systems
Extensive motor control design experience
Design experience with CPLDs, FPGAs, ARM microcontrollers, optical encoders, Hall-effect sensors, MOSFETs, Op Amps, ESD and overcurrent protection, and DC-DC switching power supplies
Demonstrated experience planning and performing multiple design tasks from concept through implementation

Preferred

Experience in designing to FCC EMC standards is preferred
Experience with scripting and Python for automation, testing, or data analysis, preferred
