COMMITMENT RECORDS SPECIALIST, LEAD Statewide
The State of Maryland's Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking a Commitment Records Specialist, Lead to join their team. This role involves reviewing, verifying, and interpreting information related to the calculation of adult inmate prison sentences, while also overseeing and training lower-level specialists.

Responsibilities
Reviews, verifies and interprets information in order to make determinations and resolve problems involving the calculation of adult inmate prison sentences in accordance with State laws and the regulations and policies of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services
In accordance with applicable laws, regulation, policies and procedure, reviews sentencing and release orders, accurately computes inmate terms, diminution credits and release dates. Accurately records calculations, credits and release dates within the commitment and diminution records
Reviews and verifies for accuracy calculations of inmate terms, credits and release dates
In accordance with applicable laws, regulation, policies and procedure, accurately computes and/or verifies the accuracy of calculations of inmate terms, diminution credits and release dates adjusted for time spent on escape, parole, mandatory supervision or court ordered releases
Assigns, reviews, approves the work of and trains lower-level Commitment Records Specialists. Monitors work assigned to specialists, ensures work is completed within required timeframes and reports work progress to the supervisor. Develops and provides technical training to improve commitment records specialists’ skill level
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
Two years of experience in reviewing, verifying, and interpreting information in order to make determinations and resolve problems involving the calculation of prison sentences in accordance with applicable laws, and the regulations and policies of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services
Preferred
Experience working in the Public Safety sector
Experience assigning, reviewing, and approving the work of lower-level Commitment Record Specialists
