The Laboratory Technician I will support translational biomedical engineering research in cardiovascular disease, assisting with various research activities and maintaining accurate records to support ongoing projects.

Responsibilities
Dispenses biohazardous materials by autoclaving and bagging for disposal
Washes and sterilizes glassware, pipets, instruments and tips. Soaks glassware and instruments in dichromate acid to remove stubborn stains
Collects lab coats daily for laundry, completes laundry slips with the number of submitted coats, and returns the lab coats to their proper labs
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
One year of experience with laboratory and/or scientific procedures
Ability to maintain proficiency with specialized software
Ability to keep accurate and organized records such as lab notebooks, data files, and research databases
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects
Ability to work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents
Must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas
