Senior Energy Analyst/CAER
The University of Kentucky is seeking a Senior Energy Analyst to support the Kentucky Energy Planning and Inventory Commission (EPIC) in analyzing the state's energy adequacy and reliability. This role involves conducting sophisticated energy planning analyses and communicating complex findings to decision-makers.

Conducting independent analyses of Kentucky’s electric generation adequacy, capacity planning, and energy reliability
Design and execute technical studies
Collaborate with utilities on planning data and forecasts
Assess emerging load scenarios (including data centers and electrification)
Develop policy-relevant findings for state decision-makers
Qualification
Required
MA
5 yrs
None
lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 10 lbs., sitting for long periods of time
Advanced proficiency in energy modeling platforms (PLEXOS, PROMOD, PowerSimm, or equivalent)
Strong quantitative and statistical analysis skills
Proficiency in Python, R, MATLAB, or similar analytical software
Deep understanding of electric utility economics, capacity planning, and resource adequacy concepts
Knowledge of wholesale electricity markets, RTO operations, and transmission planning
Expertise in load forecasting methodologies and demand-side analysis
Advanced data analysis and visualization skills (Excel, Tableau, Power BI)
Preferred
Professional experience in electric utility planning, energy systems analysis, or related field
Demonstrated experience with energy modeling software and analytical tools
Experience working with utility planning data and integrated resource planning processes
Track record of producing high-quality technical analyses and reports
