Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end marketplace strategy with full P&L accountability, actively challenging legacy assumptions around pricing, assortment, media spend, and channel roles
Actively identify and exploit structural advantages in the Amazon flywheel: Go beyond “best practices” to uncover where competitors are over-investing, under-optimizing, or misreading demand signals — and turn those gaps into sustained share capture
Drive profitable share growth, not volume at any cost: Make deliberate, sometimes counterintuitive calls on pricing, promotions, and media to protect contribution margin while still winning key keywords and categories
Rearchitect assortment and SKU strategy for algorithmic advantage: Ruthlessly evaluate SKUs, variants, bundles, and exclusives through the lens of rank, conversion, inventory health, and repeat purchase — not internal politics or historical precedent
Treat retail media as a strategic weapon, not a line item: Partner with Marketing to use media to create organic lift, retrain relevance, and accelerate flywheel momentum — not simply to replace lost rank
Force tighter integration between Product, Supply Chain, and Amazon reality: Influence product design, launch timing, packaging, and forecasting based on marketplace mechanics, not downstream fixes once issues appear
Build operating discipline that exposes truth quickly: Establish forecasting, dashboards, and operating rhythms that surface problems early, clarify trade-offs, and eliminate “feel-good” reporting
Be the unambiguous marketplace authority in the room: Serve as a strong, credible voice to executive leadership — clearly articulating where the business is winning, where it is vulnerable, and what hard decisions are required next

Marketplace operator, not a channel caretaker: A senior leader who has broken and rebuilt Amazon businesses — including periods of rank loss, margin pressure, or structural reset — and knows how to recover stronger
Demonstrated willingness to challenge legacy models: Has made — and defended — uncomfortable calls around pricing, SKU rationalization, media pullbacks, or channel conflict in service of long-term advantage
Deep, hands-on mastery of Amazon mechanics: Fluent in how Vendor Central, Seller Central, and hybrid models actually behave under stress — including algorithmic signaling, rank decay, and recovery economics
Pattern recognition across categories and geographies: Experience operating across multiple marketplaces and regions, with the ability to apply winning mechanics across categories where consumers shop by need, not brand
Obsessed with contribution margin and durability: Thinks in break-even points, payback periods, organic/paid mix, and lifetime value — not just topline growth
Highly analytical, but decisively action-oriented: Comfortable making fast, high-stakes calls with incomplete data — and adjusting quickly when signals change
Naturally cross-functional, occasionally confrontational (in a healthy way): Partners deeply with Product, Marketing, Operations, and Finance — but will push back when decisions undermine marketplace performance
