Sr. Payroll Systems Analyst

McLane Company, Inc. is a leader in the distribution industry, and they are seeking a Sr. Payroll Systems Analyst to collaborate with various departments to enhance payroll systems. The role involves analyzing system changes, troubleshooting issues, and providing support and training to ensure effective payroll operations.

Responsibilities

Analyze requested Workday Payroll and/or Time Tracking system changes and determine upstream and downstream impacts on payroll and related systems
Troubleshoot payroll system problems, identify root causes, and implement creative solutions
Make configuration changes in Workday Sandbox, perform thorough testing and regression testing, and implement approved changes in production
Collaborate with HRIS, IT, and Payroll teams to ensure data integrity and recommend process improvements
Prepare and execute tests to ensure modifications are adequately validated prior to implementation
Develop and maintain documentation and training materials for payroll system processes and procedures
Provide customer support for payroll system questions and issues, including transactional inquiries
Develop complex data reporting utilizing Excel, Workday, or other reporting tools in support of ad-hoc requests
Train members of the payroll team to enhance system performance and increase knowledge and skills in Workday payroll and time tracking
Ensure all open calls and issues are resolved within specified timeframes
Support and assist field HR and payroll teams with input, correction, and reporting requirements
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, accounting, or related field (preferred) or a minimum of 5 years payroll experience, including Workday payroll and/or time tracking
Ability to solve complex problems through detailed fact gathering and analytics
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
Extensive experience with payroll systems, including troubleshooting and determining the best alternatives for implementing new procedures
Ability to meet deadlines and handle varying workloads with a high degree of accuracy
Must maintain a high level of confidentiality
Strong project management, decision-making, and analytical skills
Ability to work independently
This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards
