Structural Design Engineer
COMPA Industries Inc is searching for a qualified candidate for the Structural Design Engineer position. This role involves providing technical leadership and developing innovative engineering solutions to ensure structural systems meet stringent safety, quality, schedule, and cost requirements while supporting national security objectives.

Responsibilities
Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, high-quality solutions to complex and unique structural engineering challenges
Apply advanced technical experience to resolve complex problems involving new or special materials, processes, and coordination requirements
Provide leadership and technical direction within and across departments on programs requiring innovative approaches and application of engineering principles
Perform and oversee structural analysis for static and dynamic loads using manual methods and computer programs
Design concrete, steel, aluminum, stainless steel, timber, and composite structures, including foundations and anchorage systems
Perform structural analysis for impact, overpressure, and other accident conditions
Prepare CSI specifications and review vendor design and construction documents
Provide design and construction oversight of structural engineering tasks performed for SRNS
Utilize SRNS processes and procedures in the execution of engineering services
Prepare plans including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for technical tasks
Monitor progress, expenditures, and quality of work performed
Evaluate program results and prepare reports and recommendations
Identify and recommend improvements where existing technologies or methodologies are inadequate
Communicate objectives and results verbally and in written form to customers, colleagues, and management
Occasionally prepare reports for external publication
Maintain technical expertise through participation and leadership in professional technical societies
Demonstrate creativity through engineering reports, technical papers, articles, patent disclosures, and innovative problem-solving
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship Required
Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance required
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities
Demonstrated working knowledge of STAAD and applicable national codes and standards (IBC, AISC, ACI, AWS, NFPA, OSHA)
Ability to perform weekly field walk-downs, including walking long distances, climbing ladders, navigating uneven terrain, and wearing required protective clothing
Active eFOCI registration and approved Facility Level Clearance with DOE/NNSA (for subcontractor organizations)
Ph.D. in applicable science or engineering discipline with 5+ years of experience, OR M.S. in applicable discipline with 8+ years of experience, OR B.S. in applicable discipline with 10+ years of experience
B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil or Structural Engineering
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities
Working knowledge of STAAD
Working knowledge of national codes and standards including IBC, AISC (ASD & LRFD), ACI, AWS, NFPA, and OSHA
Preferred
Prior active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years
Proficiency with MicroStation 2D CADD software
