Chief Financial Officer

Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership and ensure fiscal responsibility for the Tribal Government. The CFO will oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, investments, and risk management, while serving as a trusted advisor to Tribal leadership.

Responsibilities

Advise Tribal leadership on financial impacts of policy decisions, programs, and business ventures
Align financial strategies with the Tribe’s mission, values, and long-term economic development goals
Direct budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes to ensure transparency and accountability
Establish cash flow management systems to maintain liquidity and meet operational needs
Optimize capital structure and manage relationships with banks, investment partners, and external stakeholders
Evaluate opportunities for acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures consistent with Tribal priorities
Identify and mitigate financial risks while ensuring compliance with Tribal, federal, and state regulations
Develop and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
Introduce and maintain financial systems and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy
Provide timely, accurate, and insightful financial analysis to support decision-making
Serve as the financial liaison between Tribal leadership, community members, and external partners
Communicate financial expectations, results, and challenges with integrity and transparency
Provide assistance to internal and external auditors as requested

Required

Master's degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally with national or international operations
Demonstrated success in profit/loss management, capital planning, and organizational growth
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners
Must successfully pass criminal background and credit checks
Candidate selected for hire will be subject to a drug test and employment will be contingent upon results of said test

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or provide simple but continuous adjustment on equipment, machinery, tools and/or materials used in performing essential functions
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, advisory and/or design data and information
Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages; may include ability to perform mathematical operations involving basic algebraic principles and formulas, and basic geometric principles and calculations
Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or synthesis functions involving planning and directing of interrelated activities or multiple departments. Ability to deal with several concrete and abstract variables in working out approaches to major problems
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in critical and/or unexpected situations involving moderate risk to the organization
Must be able to work in a properly collegial relationship with co-workers
Must be able to interact with other departments within the Tribe in the spirit of compromise
Must be able to take on additional responsibilities in a spirit of cooperation and teamwork
Must be able to maintain an atmosphere of trust, fairness and respect and be mutually supportive with co-workers
Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality

Preferred

CPA and/or CFA designation strongly preferred
