Assistant Program Manager
Italian Home For Children Inc is dedicated to providing high quality residential treatment and integrated services for children and families. The Assistant Program Manager will support program leadership in creating a safe and nurturing environment while ensuring that Residential Counselors effectively engage with and support the children in their care.

Responsibilities
Support the Program Leadership in coordinating programmatic logistics, which includes awareness of safety and scheduling in the dorms, checking in visitors, planning for various appointments and passes for children, supervising phone calls, implementing on and off grounds activities, and managing any last minute staff schedule adjustments
Actively collaborate with clinicians and/or multidisciplinary team to ensure therapeutic environment including conducting and modeling group programming
Engage with and fully attend to children, monitor behavior and interactions closely, maintain a safe and healthy environment, and meet their physical and emotional needs
Support residential counselors in planning and executing daily routine, schedule, and activities for assigned dorm; ensure daily schedules are adhered to and that Residential Counselor staff are actively engaging with children
Coaching and giving feedback to Residential Counselor staff, ensuring they are adhering to policy and procedures surrounding supervision and active engagement
Assist in the coordination of referrals, intakes and discharges. Supporting with tours, welcoming new youth, and inventory
Work a combination of in ratio and out of ratio time each week, providing care and support to all children served, modeling proper engagement, shift structure and behavior support for Residential Counselors
Provide trainings required by licensing and regulatory bodies as assigned; collect/submit documents related including training participation/attendance logs
Adhere to and collaborate effectively on treatment and behavioral management plans for individual clients. Ensure Residential Counselors are signing plans and executing properly
Provide antecedent management and behavior de-escalation techniques in full alignment with agency model of crisis management curriculum
Interface with collaterals, stakeholders, and families providing excellent customer service and creating a welcoming environment
Care for program facilities by ensuring that program spaces are clean and organized and that all equipment is functioning properly
Ensure all spaces support the therapeutic purpose of programming and advocate for the needs of clients and staff with respect to all Italian Home properties
Support a comprehensive, unified team of staff on all shifts by providing leadership, support, guidance and regular supervision to Residential Counselors
Participate in and/or lead debriefing of staff and children for any serious behavioral incidents or restraints
Follow House Supervisor Manual and ensure respectful and professional interactions and constant communication with clients, peers, supervisors, Residential Counselors
Verify completion of comprehensive and accurate documentation such as incidents, service notes, shift log, meal reports, and eHana reports by the end of shift
Complete Campus Log by end of shift and ensure timely communication
Participate in interviewing, hiring and disciplining, of Residential Counselors
Responsible for on-boarding training and shadowing for Residential Counselors
Facilitate regularly scheduled training and regular individual and group supervision to Residential Counselors
Apply, enforce, and ensure all staff are held accountable to required standards and expectations as described in the Agency Handbook and all programmatic policy and procedures
Demonstrate and ensure all interactions between coworkers as well as all interactions in the presence of clients are appropriate, respectful, and in line with all training principles
Obtain and maintain Safety Care certification without permanent restrictions
Obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 18 months experience working with children and families with at least one year of residential experience
Valid Massachusetts Driver's License and ability to drive our vehicles required
Demonstrated commitment to supporting, nurturing, teaching, and empowering children and employees
Demonstrated experience in ensuring the highest standard of care for children
Superior follow up/follow through on tasks and assignments
Demonstrated ability to maintain strictest confidentiality with respect to agency, employee and client information; adhere to all HIPPA guidelines and regulations
Required to bend, reach, move and lift 75 pounds
Strength in working collaboratively, and the ability to complete work independently
Calm, thoughtful, safe and quick response to emergencies
Must be able to understand and apply principles taught in trainings and seminars to the milieu, including all behavior management training
Office operations knowledge (email, MS Word, internet, etc.) and ability to effectively use agency systems
Other tasks as assigned
Preferred
6 months experience in a supervisor role preferred
Bachelors level degree preferred
