Required

A Ph.D. in plant sciences, botany, horticulture, or a closely related scientific discipline at the time of hire
Experience with verbal and written communication
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams that include Extension faculty, researchers, and/or stakeholders
Demonstrated experience with planning, conducting, and reporting research results
Experience publishing research articles in peer-reviewed national or international journals
Experience in temperate horticultural production systems
Experienced researcher in controlled and/or field environments with temperate climate fruit, floral, ornamental, woody, turf, or vegetable crop production

Preferred

Record of productivity in peer-reviewed scientific publications
Demonstrated ability to produce general public-facing media or publications
Demonstrated ability or potential to lead and participate in independent and collaborative interdisciplinary research
Track record of securing competitive research funding or demonstrated potential to obtain grant support
Experience developing and delivering oral presentations to scientific, stakeholder, and industry/public audiences
Demonstrated experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage staff, students, and/or volunteers
Demonstrated professionalism and ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and clientele
