Director of Economic Opportunity and Inclusive Membership
Associated Industries of Massachusetts is focused on economic opportunity and inclusion, and they are seeking a Director of Economic Opportunity & Inclusive Membership. This role will advance engagement and strategy development to strengthen relationships with microbusinesses and diverse enterprises while expanding participation among traditionally underserved businesses.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the member services team to grow membership of micro and diverse businesses across Massachusetts within AIM, increase their representation within the organization, support engagement in their priorities including but not limited to supplier diversity procurement, marketing and connection opportunities and other services supporting businesses owned by underrepresented groups
Assist other AIM departments in the development and implementation of comprehensive economic inclusion and diversity strategies aligned with the organization's goals and values
Help to expand strategic and reciprocal membership initiatives with community-based organizations to foster new economic opportunities for AIM members and enhance revenue streams for AIM, following the successful model established through the Boston Impact Initiative partnership
Establish and foster partnerships with external organizations that align with the organization's commitment to economic inclusion and diversity
Represent the organization at relevant events and forums to promote diversity and inclusion in the community, networks and attends functions out of traditional office hours, which may include travel within Massachusetts
Highlights and supports inclusive membership activities externally in collaboration with member companies
Oversee the AIM Business Connect program, which helps facilitate connections between minority business enterprises and AIM member companies looking to diversify their vendor and supply chain contracts
Manage and grow a territory of more than 150 diverse AIM Business Connect vendor members to strengthen engagement and facilitate new opportunities for diverse businesses
At the direction of the Senior Vice President for Member Services, help to develop and execute strategies to obtain new revenues to support and expand AIM’s Economic Inclusion activities
This includes identifying, pursuing and assisting in writing grant funding proposals to member companies and other foundations to provide resources for the AIM Foundation that support AIM Business Connect, as well as to advance the association’s economic inclusion goals
Takes the lead in managing the “Vendor Showcase” program at major AIM events, from identifying members to participate to coordinating and executing all the details for each event
Communicates and conducts regular outreach with businesses (members and nonmembers), and vendors, as a key representative of AIM Business Connect (ABC)
Work closely with marketing and events team on collateral, online presence, and consistent messaging as it relates to the role and the inclusion goals and priorities
Contribute to messaging, writing, and social outlets as it relates to the role and the inclusive partnerships
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and report quarterly metrics to the head of Membership to measure the effectiveness of diversity and inclusion initiatives

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
At least five years of demonstrated leadership experience driving relationship management, member engagement, customer experience, communications, supplier diversity, or comparable economic inclusion strategies
Program/project management skills for multi-tasking
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Vision/passion for the work
Ability to build relationships
Professional presence
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive documents and other information
