Instructional Assistant Program Coordinator - Multi-Agency Public Safety
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is seeking an Instructional Assistant Program Coordinator for the Department of Fire Services. This part-time role involves supervising classes, conducting program reviews, developing instructors, and evaluating training programs to ensure effective curriculum delivery.

Responsibilities
Responsible for providing supervision of multiple classes at all MFA campuses and throughout the Commonwealth
Reviews and summarizes student evaluations
Conducts program review for program area and becomes involved in re‐development of existing programs and development of new programs
Prepares new equipment and/or replacement equipment lists annually and submits to Program Coordinator
Works closely with Support branch of DFS to ensure proper equipment and media are delivered to training sites
Develops new instructors through coaching, mentoring, teaching, and guiding
Observes instructors and provides guidance in program delivery
Actively participates in coordinator meetings
Researches, evaluates, and prepares recommendations on curricula, instructional methods, and materials for the program
Develops tests, questionnaires, and procedures to measure effectiveness of curriculum and to determine if program objectives are met
Recommends purchase of instructional materials, supplies, equipment, and visual aids to meet the needs of the program
Works with staff in assessment, curriculum development, management of student behavior, and use of materials and equipment
Observes, evaluates, and recommends changes in work of instructional staff to strengthen teaching skills in classroom
Plans, conducts, and evaluates training programs and other learning opportunities for instructors to study new classroom procedures, instructional materials, and teaching aids
Reviews and grades written test scores and skill sheets and counsels students when necessary
Prepares subjective evaluations on students for outstanding performance and non‐acceptable performance and counsels the student and notifies the Chief of the Department
May be assigned additional projects by MFA management
Facilitates NFA courses related to program division as needed to audit for internal instruction of state-sponsored deliveries
Actively participates in simulation (SIM) software trainings
Actively participates in curriculum development and virtual delivery platform trainings
Responsible for creating simulations for use in training programs
As needed, assists the Coordinator in reviewing training applications submitted for credential credit
Qualification
Required
Must have a minimum of three years of relevant fire service or emergency service industry experience such as a fire officer, fire investigator, training officer, or fire prevention position
Must be an instructor within a training program for a minimum of five years
Must have completed Fire Instructor II course and been promoted to Fire Instructor II with the MFA or a minimum of three years of equivalent experience of instructional curriculum development and course delivery
Preferred
Fire Instructor II certification
Have superior interpersonal skills
Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
Well organized and a team player
Have a demonstrated work record to support the skills required
Have a thorough knowledge of the Multi-Agency Public Safety and Fire Investigation programs
Have completed the MFA Advanced Fire Investigator Training Program or Certified as a Massachusetts Fire Investigator or Current Fire Investigator I
Have Fire Investigator Technician certification (IAAI-FIT)
Be familiar with the various associated NFPA codes and standards associated with Fire Investigation including but not limited to 921 and 1033
Have demonstrated record of working with the Massachusetts Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit (FEIU)
Have successfully completed Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR) Train-the-Trainer 5-day program or willing to become an ALERRT Certified Instructor
