Associate Engineer - Gas Turbine Controls

Responsibilities
Learn combustion turbine operations, mechanical fundamentals, and system behavior to support controls development
Build foundational knowledge of combustion turbine control strategies used in modern power generation systems
Develop application code solutions and contribute to real-world project deliverables
Assist in designing, developing, and testing HMI control screens that support operator visibility and decision-making
Support software testing, troubleshooting, and application validation using historical and live system data
Contribute to the development of software standards, templates, and best practices to improve consistency and quality
Collaborate with cross-functional teams—internally and externally—to support successful project execution
Receive mentorship and hands-on guidance from experienced controls engineers as you build technical depth and engineering judgment
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in Engineering or STEM degree
Interest in controls engineering, troubleshooting, and power generation systems
Willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines
Ability to travel up to 10% as needed to support projects
Legal authorization to work in the United States. Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder). Emerson will not petition for H-1B or any other visa for this position
Preferred
Coursework, internships, or hands-on project experience related to control systems, automation, or power systems
Exposure to software testing, HMI design, or system validation
Familiarity with industrial control systems or programming languages such as ladder logic, function block, or structured text
An interest in power generation technology, sustainability, or modernization of legacy infrastructure
Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and apply engineering principles to solve problems
