Undergraduate Technical Intern – Mechanical Design

Responsibilities

The candidate will be involved in computer aided drawing (CAD) activities and supporting activities related to design and fabrication of fixturing and equipment required for manufacturing process development activities
The candidate will be required to complete detail drawings and solid modeling under the direction of a CAD engineer
The candidate will also be expected to support getting parts fabricated
This supporting activity includes interacting with machinists, creating work orders, obtaining quotes, setting up purchase requests, etc
Additionally, the candidate will be expected to interact with other engineers, scientists, etc. in design reviews

Required

Candidates must have a high school diploma /GED or higher
Candidates must be degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled at an accredited college or university
Candidates must be taking at least 6 credit hours and have an overall cumulative GPA of 2.50

Preferred

Solidworks CAD Design Associate Certification or higher
Knowledge of generating technical manufacturing drawings
Familiarity with common manufacturing methods, including milling, turning, sheet metal, and 3D printing
Experience working with or around mechanical systems, including making repairs or modifications
Strong communication skills, capable of presenting and receiving technical information concisely and efficiently
Proven ability to learn independently and adapt quickly to new concepts
Strong inclination to proactively take initiative with details necessary to drive tasks to success
