In this role, you will provide hands-on vocational instruction in warehouse operations and material handling to inmate students, assess their abilities, and adjust instructional materials to meet their needs.

Responsibilities
Assess inmates’ abilities to determine their suitability for the program and place them within the appropriate curriculum
Adjust instructional materials to meet student needs and provide both classroom and hands-on shop instruction
Assign and evaluate homework, create and administer tests, and provide a final evaluation for each student
Monitor inmate behavior, set classroom rules and procedures, and address disruptive behavior by taking appropriate corrective action and documenting all actions taken
Independently select effective teaching methods, make necessary curriculum adjustments, and contribute recommendations for departmental procedures, policies, and curriculum development
Qualification
Required
Education equivalent to high school graduation and two years wage earning experience beyond the completed apprenticeship period in the specified parenthetical; or
If there is no approved apprenticeship period for the specified parenthetical, education equivalent to high school graduation and three years of wage earning experience in the specified parenthetical
Possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Certificate 1 or 2 for the specified parenthetical; or
Possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Intern Certificate for the specified parenthetical; or
Eligibility for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Certificate for the specified parenthetical
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required
You must meet the PA residency requirement
You must be able to perform essential job functions
You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
