Responsibilities
Assist with payroll processing across multiple pay groups, ensuring accurate and timely execution
Review payroll data through basic audits and reconciliations; verify totals, deductions, approvals, and entries
Flag discrepancies and escalate issues for further review
Maintain accurate payroll records, including updates for hires, terminations, pay adjustments, and direct deposit/tax changes
Respond to general employee questions regarding payroll policies, pay dates, and basic inquiries
Track deadlines and follow up with departments on missing or incomplete information needed for payroll
Assist with verifying benefit-related deductions (health, retirement, HSA/FSA, etc.) for accuracy each cycle
Support periodic academic or contract-based payments by confirming accuracy and alignment with approved arrangements
Provide general administrative and operational support to payroll leadership as needed
Qualification
Required
2+ years of experience in payroll, HR, accounting, or comparable detail-oriented administrative work
Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numerical data
Ability to learn payroll/HR systems quickly
Intermediate Excel skills (sorting, filtering, basic functions)
Professional communication skills and a polished customer-service approach
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Organized, dependable, and able to follow established procedures while managing recurring cycles and deadlines
