Transportation Division Engineering Director - Kanawha County

Responsibilities
Plans, organizes and reviews the engineering and administrative activities in a division
Plans, organizes and reviews the engineering and non-engineering activities of an engineering division
Oversees the application of and adherence to all departmental regulations, policies, practices and standards
Plans and oversees staff development and training activities of the section
Monitors compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, agency policies and practices and professional standards
Oversees administrative functions to include payroll, accounting, procurement, records retention and public information
Oversees and recommends personnel and staffing changes to indicate selection, advancement, evaluation and termination of personnel
Maintains effective working relationships with federal transportation officials, contractors, state and local officials, advocacy/interest groups and the public
Assists in the formulation and implementation of departmental policy, and coordinates the activities of the design, construction, maintenance, realty, and equipment elements of a division project
Travel may be required; therefore, a valid driver's license is required
Qualification
Required
Current license as a registered professional engineer in West Virginia. No Substitutions
Nine (9) years of highway engineering experience involving the design, construction, or maintenance of highways
Experience must have been acquired after obtainment of bachelor's degree but may have occurred before or after registration as a professional engineer
