Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Chief Program Officer & Emergency Shelter Director in managing the daily operations of the facility, as well as vehicles, for the Emergency Shelter according to Minimum Standards set by Licensing, DFPS and other funding sources
Maintain a working knowledge of Trauma Informed Care, TBRI ®, Normalcy, Cultural Competence, Compassion Fatigue & Self-Care
Maintain household maintenance needs per shelter annual budget
Confirm all household needs meet DFPS minimum standards & HHSC licensing guidelines
Maintain all DFPS annual and semi-annual inspections and drills including, but not limited to, fire and weather drills, playground inspections, health inspection, and fire and gas inspection
Manage relationship with outside vendors to meet the needs of the operation & facility including, but not limited to, the City of Plano for discarding sanitation services, including bulk pick-up, A/C, Plumbing, Appliance, Back Flow, Sprinklers, Lawn Maintenance, Pest Control, Grease Trap, Fish Tank, etc
Maintain relationships with City of Plano, Fire Marshall, Health Dept. etc
Weekly walk-throughs of the building and facility to maintain the upkeep of the inside and outside of the property
Responsible for obtaining appropriate supplies for the daily upkeep of shelter
Confirm all household needs meet DFPS minimum standards & HHSC licensing guidelines
Maintain & oversee the shelter kitchen including regulations, cleanliness & stocking
Oversee proper procedures are followed for food storage & discarding
Provide training on procedures for all staff in kitchen safety, how to use the sanitizer, as well as proper washing techniques
Maintain all records related to food handlers & managers, as well as keeping all proper documentation displayed
Obtain Food Manager’s Certification within first 60 days of employment
Oversee Nutritional needs of the shelter
Provide weekly menu with nutritious snacks and meals
Create a grocery list for all snacks and meals planned for each week
Oversee purchasing of the groceries
Provide spot checks on keeping pantry items up to date, as well as items in the refrigerator and freeze
Coordinate and communicate with all cooking volunteers
Maintain up to date records for food handler license for staff & cooking volunteers
General organization of the kitchen
Maintain vehicles & vehicle maintenance per shelter annual budget
Oversee and track all vehicle maintenance, registrations and responsibilities that go along with managing auto care
Coordinate with The Auto Shop when vehicles need work to be done
Maintain upkeep of vehicles including GPS system, key fobs, license & registration, tires, oil changes as well as making sure cars are fueled with gas
Encourage, by example and through training, positive interactions, respect, and effective communication with all volunteers
Work with Volunteer Coordinator to manage work groups and needs for work groups
Coordinate all household needs with volunteer maintenance workers
Ensure shopping lists and gift cards/credit cards are ready and available for Go-Getter volunteers
Provide Volunteer Coordinator with any correspondence related to volunteers serving at MFH
Assist with training new staff to understand the requirements of operations at the shelter including kitchen responsibilities, laundry, fire & disaster drills, etc
Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team to meet the overall needs of all clients. This includes participating in weekly and bi-monthly staffing, as well as creating an environment of unity between direct care and program staff
Knowledge of Minimum Standards/Licensing regulations
Work to increase the number of residents served monthly
Knowledge of grant requirements/funding sources
Work with the City House leadership team to uphold the overall mission of City House Inc

Required

Bachelor's degree in social work or related field with an understanding and experience working within a licensed facility
Minimum of two years of experience working in a residential setting or related experience
Knowledge of issues related to child development, trauma, youth homelessness, abuse, and neglect with at-risk children
Valid Texas driver's license with insurance and provide DPS proof of driving record acceptable to agency insurers for the past three (3) years
Must submit to pre-employment drug screen as well as random drug screens when directed
Provide a required TB test, within the last 60 days, showing employee is free of contagious TB
Submit to a criminal background check, FBI background check, and Texas HHS background check as required by regulatory agencies
Effective communication skills, both oral and written; Effective organizational skills; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the community, as well as volunteers
Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
At least 21 years of age
CPR, AED, & First Aid must be current, or obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained as required
Ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people
Good depth perception
Ability to bend, stoop, twist, turn, reach, lift, carry, pull, climb and kneel with approximately 50% of time spent walking or standing
Ability to recognize differences in sound, such as voices/noises that are loud and playful instead of angry and combative, in addition to differentiating tone and volumes in conversation
Knowledge and use of Universal Precautions
