Senior Electrical Estimator & Designer
Pieper Electric, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator & Designer who will be responsible for preparing detailed electrical estimates for various projects. This role involves interpreting blueprints, performing quantity take-offs, and mentoring new estimators to support team growth and success.
Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and timely electrical cost estimates for commercial and/or industrial projects
Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents
Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, material, and equipment
Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
Develop budgets, value-engineering options, and alternates
Assist with bid reviews, scope clarifications, and proposal preparation
Support and develop electrical designs for design-build projects
Assist in layout of lighting, power, and low-voltage systems
Coordinate design intent with customers, engineers, and field staff
Ensure designs comply with NEC, local codes, and project requirements
Prepare or assist with design documentation and revisions
Assist project managers with submittals, RFIs, and change orders
Coordinate material procurement and deliveries
Maintain project documentation and tracking logs
Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams
Support scheduling and job closeout activities
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
8+ years experience in electrical estimating, electrical design, or project coordination (combination preferred)
Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and construction methods
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Trimble, or similar) is a plus
Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Preferred
Higher education in Architectural Technology (or related) OR equivalent experience preferred
Familiarity with design software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) is a plus
Commercial and/or industrial electrical construction experience
Design-build project experience
Knowledge of NEC and local electrical codes
Experience working closely with field operations
