Digital Content Coordinator

Citrus County Government is seeking a Digital Content Coordinator to enhance their digital storytelling across various platforms. The role involves creating multimedia content, managing social media strategies, and ensuring user-friendly web experiences for residents.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Leads the day-to-day execution and ongoing improvement of Citrus County’s social media strategy, taking initiative to identify opportunities for more effective communication with residents
Creates and schedules content for social media channels, ensuring posts are timely, informative, accessible, and aligned with county priorities
Develops social media graphics, flyers, and reels that translate county information into clear, citizen-friendly content
Monitors and interacts with social media users, representing Citrus County in a helpful, professional manner
Uses social media management tools and analytics to evaluate performance, recommend improvements, and implement best practices
Trains and advises county staff on tone of voice, social media best practices, and accessibility guidelines
Attends county events to capture photos and content for digital platforms
Serves as webmaster for Citrus County’s main website, proactively identifying ways to improve content clarity, organization, and overall user-friendliness for citizens
Collaborates with county departments to rewrite, reorganize, and update web content so information is easy to find, easy to understand, and accessible (WCAG/ADA compliant)
Uses website analytics and feedback to recommend and implement improvements to navigation, copy, search visibility, and accessibility
Works with external vendor partners to ensure optimal website functionality and performance
Delivers training for county staff on CMS use, web writing best practices, and accessibility standards
Assists with document remediation using CommonLook PDF and related tools
Actively contributes to the evolution of Citrus County’s visual identity, ensuring consistency and clarity across digital and print materials
Develops and maintains design templates for business cards, presentations, stationery, flyers, reports, and other materials
Assists in developing and refining county brand guidelines and implementing them consistently across departments
Brainstorms and proposes ideas for campaigns, branding initiatives, videos, and graphics that support county goals and improve public understanding
Drives and/or operates county vehicles and equipment, obeying all safety policies, roadway rules, and laws
Performs other duties as required

Required

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, English, public relations, graphic design, or a related field
Experience using social media platforms as a communications tool
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and changing priorities
Ability to travel locally, as needed
Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize work, and complete assigned responsibilities in a timely manner with strong attention to detail
Ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with county staff, elected officials, community interest groups, and the public with a customer service mentality
Knowledge of or ability to learn guidelines for digital accessibility (WCAG/ADA)
Ability to work after normal business hours (may include occasional nights and/or weekends)
Valid Florida Driver License (or ability to obtain one within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida)
Strong working knowledge of computers with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida
Must have or be able to obtain certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses (within 90 days of employment): IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); and IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System

Preferred

Experience in graphic design (Canva and Adobe Illustrator preferred)
Experience writing for websites (preferred)
Experience with website content management, analytics, and best practices (preferred)
