Responsibilities
Verify eligibility, benefits, and authorization information for new client accounts
Verify provider credentials to ensure payer requirements are followed for accurate scheduling
Prepare and submit billing data and claims to insurance companies
Resolve claim denials, requests for additional information, and non-payment in a timely manner
Communicate concerns that may lead to inaccurate or untimely completion of reimbursement processing to the appropriate individuals
Call insurance companies regarding payment discrepancies as needed
Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
Answer patient and/or insurance inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts
Reviewing patient bills for accuracy, completeness, and obtaining any missing information
Other job-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Billing and/or Intake experience is required
High school degree / GED or equivalent is required
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer service and the ability to de-escalate clients
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to laws, regulations, and best practices
Regular and predictable attendance, and promptness for work
Commitment to uphold the mission, vision, and values of Lutheran Family Services
Support Lutheran Family Services in the organization's objective to be a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible workplace
Working knowledge of or experience with insurance reimbursements, implications of industry change, etc
Preferred
Three years of billing and/or intake experience
Continuing education or coursework in finance or accounting
