The NYS Office of Information Technology Services is focused on modernizing business applications. The Manager Information Technology Services 1 will transition legacy applications to modern technologies, utilizing Java and low code solutions, while collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and maintenance of these applications.

Responsibilities
Participate in the planning and execution of application modernization efforts
Analyze existing Java code to identify areas for improvement and modernization
Contribute to the design and development of new application components using modern technologies (e.g., .NET, Java, Web APIs, Cloud Services)
Assist in the migration of data and functionality from legacy applications to new platforms
Evaluate and recommend modernization tools and techniques
Maintain, troubleshoot, and patch existing Java applications
Work closely with information security, business analysts, project managers, and other developers to understand requirements and deliver solutions
Participate in team meetings and provide regular updates on progress
Document code, technical designs, and migration processes
Develop and execute unit tests and integration tests
Participate in system testing and user acceptance testing
Identify and resolve defects
Perform full range of supervisory duties
Qualification
Required
Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as a Manager Information Technology Services 1, SG27/M2, OR in a position at the SG25 or M1 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law
The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades or one M-grade
Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed
ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis
It is the policy of ITS not to hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or to sponsor non-immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or for permanent residence
Some positions may require fingerprinting
Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs
