Deputy Attorney General II-V, Div. of Revenue & Unclaimed Property (Prim. Assignment) Civil Division, Fiscal Integrity & Protection Unit
The State of Delaware's Department of Justice is seeking a Deputy Attorney General to represent the Division of Revenue and the Office of Unclaimed Property within the Civil Division. This role involves providing legal counsel on tax law, administrative law, and compliance matters, while also advising on the State’s unclaimed property program and engaging with various state officials.

Responsibilities
Serve as a trusted legal advisor and advocate on matters impacting the State’s fiscal integrity
Handle complex legal issues, appear before administrative tribunals and courts, and work closely with State officials
Provide counsel to the State Escheator on unclaimed property claims and represent the State Escheator in claim appeal proceedings before the Tax Appeal Board
Advise on procurement and contracting, legislation and regulatory matters, Freedom of Information Act compliance, and personnel issues
Handle additional assignments as directed by the State Solicitor, Deputy State Solicitor, Unit Head, or Assistant Unit Head
Qualification
Required
Membership in Delaware Bar is required
The DAG should be able to take a proactive approach to assisting its agency clients
A successful candidate should have the ability to work with State agencies to identify potential issues and assist State agencies to address such issues in order to minimize or avoid future legal action
The DAG should be able to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with client agencies
The DAG should have demonstrated legal ability and a thorough knowledge of relevant laws and court rules
The DAG must have a willingness to travel within the State to meet departmental needs and meeting schedules
Preferred
Some prior general counsel and litigation experience; however, such experience is not required for selection
