Deep Learning Curriculum Specialist

Neuromatch is dedicated to accelerating scientific innovation through inclusive participation in computational sciences. They are seeking a temporary part-time curriculum specialist to revise and improve learning materials for their Deep Learning course, ensuring they are interactive and engaging while collaborating with a team of senior scientists.

Responsibilities

Program tutorials in Python, utilizing the JAX library, and write narrative course content into Jupyterbooks. This includes interactive programming tutorials, questions to invoke group discussions, and lessons that include visual or graphic elements. The majority of course updates will be content reduction, with minimal new content being introduced
Work with our Project Manager, Administrative Specialist, Software Engineer, Deep Learning Course Director, and Curriculum Chair to develop learning tutorials for our teachers and students
Work with a team of global senior scientists to inform the design and learning goals of the tutorials you construct
Use past feedback and gather additional feedback to update materials
Upload or sync the materials with Github so that they are integrated into our course delivery system
Track progress on your work in Asana, our project management tool
Interact with software such as Airtable, Google Suite, Asana, and more. Don’t worry if you don’t know them! Neuromatch is all about teaching

Qualification

Required

Moderate to strong Python skills, particularly in JAX and within the context of deep learning and machine learning
A background in deep learning and AI research
Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills, including the ability to check and adapt language to be more easily understood by non-native English speakers
An ability and desire to understand and accommodate cultural and personal differences
An ability to learn new systems quickly
A stable internet connection capable of supporting video conferencing and streaming

Preferred

Have a background in neuroscience
Interested in or have a background in pedagogy or scientific teaching
Familiar with Neuromatch (from being a volunteer, student, or similar)
