Design Engineer I
JR Engineering is a company that has been serving various clients throughout Colorado since 1973, specializing in civil engineering services. The Design Engineer I will assist in preparing civil engineering plans and calculations for projects including residential subdivisions and commercial developments, working closely with the Team Lead or Project Manager.

Responsibilities
Works directly with the Team Lead or Project Manager to assist in the planning and design phase activities, including the drafting and preparation of civil construction plans, exhibits, specifications, and reports
Prepare engineering designs for erosion control, potable and non-potable water line, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, drainage, roadway and site grading, site layout, and signage and striping plans
Perform basic design computations and calculations including drainage, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, earthwork quantities, cost estimates, exhibits, and other supporting documentation for various land development projects
Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes
Performs plan and detail drafting using AutoCAD. Model & paper space environment, sheet sets, data references, x-references, and blocks
Exercise of judgement is required at a minimum level on details of work and making initial selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives for team discussion. Responsible for specific components of the overall design effort
Perform construction plan drafting using AutoCAD software
Promote a positive teamwork environment
Qualification
Required
Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and associated design software (preferred)
Entry level multi-disciplinary knowledge in civil engineering including land development, transportation, water resources, wastewater, structural, and geotechnical topics
Strong interpersonal, problem solving, conflict resolution, analytical, and time and resource management skills. Collaboration is key
Strong verbal/written communication skills
Strong planning and organizational skills
Well organized and articulate; must be able to prioritize and execute effectively
Must demonstrate ability to work effectively on a collaborative team to accomplish objectives under pressure. Must also be highly self-motivated and self-directed
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited college or university (preferred)
0 – 2 year experience in applicable civil engineering experience
Designer I designation is for non-degreed individuals
Engineer I designation once FE exam is passed
