They are seeking a motivated Uintah Basin Fisheries Technician to improve stream habitats and maintain healthy trout populations through various fieldwork activities. The role involves collaboration with staff and biologists, focusing on habitat improvement and fish population monitoring in the Uintah Basin.

Responsibilities
Work with Trout Unlimited and Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in the field to improve coldwater habitat through non-native species removal and other activities
Assist with backcountry field work during multi-day overnight horseback trips in the Uinta Mountains
Assist with a variety of stream surveys including habitat or fishery assessments
Collect accurate field data
Assist with brood stock collections
Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Trout Unlimited’s partners
Qualification
Required
Field experience in fisheries, wildlife, or other natural resources discipline (gained through education and/or employment) and enthusiasm for natural resources conservation
Must be able to work well independently and in group settings with people of diverse backgrounds
Ability and willingness to quickly learn new skills
Ability to maintain a positive attitude during challenging days or days with inclement weather
Ability to problem-solve and think creatively to overcome challenges while in the field to achieve fisheries conservation
Ability to communicate effectively and develop working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
Ability and willingness to occasionally work remotely for multiple days at a time in backcountry settings via horseback with limited cell service
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Must have a valid driver's license and willingness to drive on unimproved roads
Preferred
Knowledge of or familiarity with stream sampling methods
Experience using stream sampling equipment (e.g., backpack electrofisher, multiparameter water quality probes, flow meter)
Experience in backcountry situations with limited access to cell service
Knowledge of or familiarity with the application of piscicides
Understanding of watershed science and restoration, Utah stream ecology, and Utah's coldwater species
