Responsibilities

Ensures the project maintains the required schedule by organizing, planning, monitoring, and inspecting work
Prepares schedules or assist scheduler for pay estimates and 3–week look ahead
Prepares takeoffs or assists project manager with all required materials and ensure that materials and equipment are delivered to the site on time
Assists project manager in defining subcontract scopes of work and ensuring subcontractors are on the project when required and progress in accordance with the schedule
Ensures the activities of various workers do not interfere with one another
Inspects the work of each trade and confirms that the quality is up to standard and the work is being built in accordance with plans and specifications
Plans and runs weekly progress meetings and assists in the performance of Quality Control preparatory meetings and inspections
Reads and interprets plans and specifications
Assists with project estimates, bid packages, schedule preparation, and budgets
Has stop work authority for potential quality and/or S&H issues
Approves corrective measures taken and dictates when to resume work
Implements the company’s health and safety program
Conducts and/or participates in associated training, safety meetings, and inspections
Supervises safety of all field activities, in-house and subcontract trades, and coordinates site logistics
Implements site safety and emergency plans
Observes and assists in compliance with subcontractors
Coordinates with subcontractors in timely development of activity hazard analysis (AHA) and control measures for scopes
Performs daily safety inspections and reporting of inspections
Prepares daily reports, job diaries, narratives, and all other documentation as determined by the company and by the project needs
Communicates and supports a proactive culture of Safety
Routinely assesses work activities to ensure tasks are performed safely and in accordance with corporate, federal, and state requirements, project scopes/specifications, and APP/AHAs
Enforces all regulatory, base, and company specific safety rules
Ensures equipment and other project resources are inspected, meet APP safety requirements, and adequate to meet the intended function for the project
Provides day-to-day technical overview of on-site project activities
Authority to stop work for conditions adverse to quality or safety
Implements Government-approved EPP
Ensures waste segregation and storage compatibility requirements are met
Inspects and manages Satellite Accumulation areas
Ensures only authorized personnel add waste to containers
Ensures project personnel are trained in 40 CFR requirements in accordance with their position requirements
Coordinates removal of waste containers
Maintains the Environmental Records binder and required documentation, including environmental permits compliance and close-out
Coordinates associated OSHA practices applicable to the environmental work performed

Required

High School Diploma or GED
At least ten (10) years of recent experience in Construction of which five (5) years as Superintendent and five (5) years as SSHO on federal construction renovation projects with multiple trades
A minimum of five (5) years' dual-hat experience as a Superintendent/SSHO will also be considered
30- and 10-hour Construction Safety and 8-hour OSHA Supervisor training and certificates
Thorough knowledge of EM 385-1-1
CPR – First Aid certification
Must be experienced in working with environmental regulatory agencies such as Alaska Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ)
Must be familiar with the requirements of 40 CFR Protection of Environment, 49 CFR 100-199 Hazardous Materials Transportation, Handling, and Storage Regulations, 29 CFR 1910 Occupational Safety and Health Standards, and 29 CFR 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction
Must possess a working knowledge of computer systems such as Adobe, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
Must have strong interpersonal skills and a high-level proficiency in written and verbal communication to discuss work requirements with project stakeholders, including client, staff, and subcontractors
Must be a self-starter, well organized, and able to work independently with minimal direction
Able to be flexible and adapt to constant change
Knowledge of acceptable construction site practices, including occupational safety and health regulations
Able to understand and implement applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations
Must be able to meet the standards required to obtain and hold general clearance for access to military installations
Valid Driver's License compliant with REAL ID ACT
Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
Must be local to Sitka, AK or willing to relocate
Work schedule is six days / week, 10 hours / day
