Postdoctoral Fellow - Physiology

Responsibilities

Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature; summarize and evaluate findings; develop derivative applications of techniques developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects. Presents findings at scientific meetings locally, nationally, and/or internationally
Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines
To study the signaling mechanisms underlying cell-to-cell communication in the brain using patch-clamp electrophysiology, live confocal imaging, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, OR 3D cell reconstruction
Compose articles for publication in scientific journals
Supervise and coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants and other research personnel engaged in research activities and/or related laboratory work. Advise principal investigator, other postdocs, students and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures, and other technological aspects of research activities
Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and operate microscopes, computer-linked analytical equipment, dedicated computers and other complex scientific equipment; instruct others in operation of equipment
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required

Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university

Preferred

Our focus lies in the exploration of cardiovascular diseases and neurodegeneration, encompassing hypertension, heart failure, and Alzheimer's disease. We delve into understanding how cardiovascular risk factors influence neurovascular outputs through various animal models
While we employ an extensive range of technical approaches (e.g., molecular biology, microcirculation, patch-clamp electrophysiology, in vivo two-photon imaging, in situ live confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry, RNA-seq, and rodent surgeries) technical expertise is preferred, although not mandatory
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
