Responsibilities

Perform advanced maintenance of NMR instruments and troubleshoot complex technical issues
Develop, optimize, and implement 1D, 2D, and advanced NMR experiments (e.g., NOESY, COSY, HSQC, HMBC, DOSY)
Design and implement custom protocols integrating NMR with mass spectrometry, computational modeling, and emerging technologies such as cryogenic probes and hyperpolarization
Provide expert data interpretation and consultation for structural elucidation to facility users
Serve as a scientific liaison by co-authoring publications and contributing to grant proposals leveraging facility capabilities
Provide technical support and training for faculty, graduate students, undergraduate researchers, and teaching assistants
Oversee daily operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair coordination for major departmental instrumentation (e.g., GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS, FT-IR, UV-Vis, fluorescence, TGA)
Manage instrument scheduling, usage logs, billing, and compliance with university safety policies
Assist faculty with method development, data acquisition, and preparation of instrument-related sections of grant proposals
Collaborate with teaching laboratory staff to support analytical instrumentation in instructional laboratories
Coordinate service contracts, vendor interactions, and instrument upgrade planning
Enforce laboratory safety practices related to instrumentation use and chemical handling
Participate in long-term planning for shared instrument development and facility growth

Required

Bachelor's degree in a related field and four (4) years of experience or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience
Ability to work flexible hours as needed
