CNU's Center For American Studies is seeking a Technical Coordinator for Events Operations. This role is responsible for providing technical support for event operations, including audiovisual services, and ensuring the smooth execution of events in university venues.

Responsibilities
Provide technical support for event operations including audiovisual and other services in all University owned venues both on and off campus
Assist with set-up and operations of audiovisual equipment, as well as post-events breakdown, including but not limited to: audio, lighting, and video/projection equipment
Interact with students, faculty, staff, and other clients in a customer-focused manner in support of audiovisual needs and production assistance
Work both independently and in a team environment
Work flexible hours to include evenings, weekends and holidays, as well as to work hours beyond a typical work week of 40 hours, as needed
Qualification
Required
High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Valid Driver's License
Experience configuring audiovisual systems and networks, sound systems, lighting systems, and web-streaming support for multiple venues and events
Experience in large scale event productions including experience providing technical assistance for executive level and other VIP events and presentations
Ability to interact with students, faculty, staff, and other clients in a customer-focused manner in support of audiovisual needs and production assistance
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Ability to work flexible hours to include evenings, weekends and holidays, as well as to work hours beyond a typical work week of 40 hours, as needed
Signal Flow Theory: Deep understanding of how audio, video, and data signals travel from source to output (e.g., Microphone → Mixer → Amplifier → Speaker)
Audio Fundamentals: Knowledge of acoustics, frequency response, gain staging, and the difference between mic and line levels
Video Standards: Familiarity with aspect ratios, resolutions (4K, 1080p), frame rates, and connector types (HDMI, SDI, NDI, Fiber)
Lighting Basics: color temperature (K), and the difference between wash, spot, and moving head fixtures
Electrical Safety: Basic understanding of power distribution, load balancing, and cable management to prevent hazards
Equipment Configuration: Ability to patch audio consoles, configure video switchers (like Blackmagic or Barco), and set up LED walls or projectors
Cable Management: Expert-level “over-under” wrapping and neat cable “dressing” to ensure safety and professional aesthetics
Composure Under Pressure: The ability to stay focused and polite when a technical glitch occurs in front of a live audience
Attention to Detail: For example, noticing a flickering pixel, a slight audio hum, or a crooked drape before the client does
Communication: Translating “tech-speak” into plain English for clients and coordinating effectively with a team via headsets (Comms)
Adaptability: The ability to pivot when a client changes the “run of show” (ROS) five minutes before doors open
Preferred
An Associate's degree or technical degree/diploma in Audiovisual Technology, or a Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Engineering, Broadcasting, Communications, or a closely related field
Experience providing audiovisual technical support in a college or university setting
