Responsibilities
Works with automated liquid handlers and other automation to complete daily extraction of DNA from incoming laboratory samples
Responsible for sample management and tracking through the department, including management of the automated storage system for storage and retrieval of extracted samples
Performs quantification and quality assessment of samples as needed
Assists with preparation and maintenance of reagent stocks
Handles proper operation of automation for vial filling and sample sorting
Monitors and maintains supply inventories
Follows all laboratory procedures and policies, including quality control and quality system activities, and documents appropriately all records, deviations, and corrective actions as required
Assists with troubleshooting issues with assays, equipment, or procedures
Performs general laboratory maintenance, organization, and cleaning of the area
Assists with other laboratory procedures as necessary, including:
Receipt and accessioning of samples
Manual DNA extractions of non-standard samples
RNA extraction and Real-Time PCR assays for Respiratory Pathogen detection
Qualification
Required
4- year Bachelor degree or higher a Biological Science or related field
Computer literacy of Microsoft Word and Excel is required
