Responsibilities

Utilize a comprehensive suite of internal tools to systematically monitor and evaluate the reliability and efficiency of Google Data Center (GDC) operations. Identify and prioritize necessary actions to ensure GDC's alignment with leadership directives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Monitor plant efficiency (PUE/WUE) at a data center. Act as an onsite technical lead in these efficiency areas and works with technicians, leads, and manager to drive site level programs
Provide input and direction to site teams in DC and act as a site lead in collaborating on quality issues or concerns
Acts as the lead from a site in providing technical direction or input on quality or reliability issues at a site or that affects multiple sites across the globe or region. Provides design inputs in the domain of expertise

Qualification

Mechanical systemsElectrical systemsBuilding management controlsBachelor's in engineeringCommunication skills

Required

Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
9 years of experience working in critical operations for areas such as data centers, hospitals, power plants, or transmission operations
Experience with mechanical systems used in a data center environment for e.g., feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems or similar
Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, holidays, and on shift-based schedules

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
Knowledge of the building management controls systems
Knowledge of the electrical systems used in a data center environment
Ability to respond to urgent issues and communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems
