Account Executive

OpenSolar is a global organization focused on accelerating the adoption of solar and renewable energy. The Strategic Account Executive will own and grow a portfolio of high-value solar contractor accounts, driving new logo acquisition and expansion revenue while engaging senior stakeholders across complex organizations.

Responsibilities

Own the full sales cycle for strategic and upper mid-market accounts, from qualified opportunity through close and expansion
Drive net-new and expansion revenue, consistently meeting or exceeding quarterly and annual targets
Build and manage a high-quality pipeline, forecasting accurately in HubSpot
Lead complex deal negotiations, including pricing, contracts, and commercial terms
Develop account plans that align customer business goals with OpenSolar’s long-term value
Lead in-depth discovery with founders, executives, and functional leaders to understand business models, workflows, and growth challenges
Deliver tailored, outcome-driven demos and proposals aligned to customer priorities
Act as a trusted advisor to senior decision-makers (Founders, CEOs, COOs, Heads of Sales & Ops)
Partner with Solution Engineers to support technical evaluations and advanced use cases
Work closely with Solutions, Support, and Customer Success teams to ensure seamless handoffs and successful onboarding
Collaborate internally on account strategy, renewals, and expansion opportunities
Provide structured feedback to Product and Engineering teams based on strategic customer insights
Maintain deep expertise in OpenSolar’s platform, roadmap, and use cases
Stay current on solar industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics
Clearly articulate OpenSolar’s differentiation and business impact at an executive level
Continuously refine messaging, positioning, and sales approach based on market learnings

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
3–5+ years of B2B SaaS sales experience, with success selling complex solutions to mid-market or enterprise customers
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding quota in longer, consultative sales cycles
Exceptional executive communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Strong command of consultative and value-based selling methodologies
Proficiency with CRM and sales tools (HubSpot experience preferred)
Self-directed, commercially driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving, scale-up environment
Willingness to travel for customer meetings, events, and industry conferences as needed

Preferred

Prior experience selling into solar, renewable energy, construction tech, or adjacent industries strongly preferred
