Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive and Registrar and the Chief of Staff

The Nursing and Midwifery Council is seeking an Executive Assistant to provide high-quality executive support to the Chief Executive and Registrar as well as the Chief of Staff. The role involves managing complex diaries, ensuring robust planning, and maintaining effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Act as a key gatekeeper, managing complex diaries, inboxes and access to the CER and CoS, using sound judgement to prioritise competing demands and protect executive time
Ensure robust forward planning by tracking actions, deadlines, corporate commitments and meeting preparation so that the CER and CoS are always well briefed and prepared
Commission, coordinate and follow up actions on behalf of the CER and CoS, driving delivery to agreed timelines and quality standards
Organise meetings, events, travel and logistics to a high professional standard, ensuring executives can focus on outcomes rather than arrangements
Manage highly sensitive communications, acting as the primary point of contact for complex, confidential and urgent matters, responding or redirecting appropriately
Draft, format, proofread and issue correspondence on behalf of the CER, ensuring clarity, accuracy, professionalism and confidentiality
Liaise confidently with senior internal and external stakeholders, building effective working relationships across the organisation and beyond
Maintain and continuously improve Private Office systems and records, ensuring secure, accurate and compliant information management
Support governance and compliance processes, including financial procedures, approvals and business case coordination

Required

Proven experience supporting a CEO or equivalent senior leader
Experience in independently drafting high-quality correspondence, briefings and responses
Strong judgement, discretion and professionalism
Ability to anticipate needs and manage competing priorities
Experience in managing complex diaries and inboxes
Ability to protect executive time using sound judgement
Highly organised and detail-focused
Ability to manage a complex and fast-moving workload while maintaining accuracy and composure under pressure
Clear and confident communication skills
Ability to build effective working relationships with senior stakeholders internally and externally
Collaborative, inclusive and solutions-focused mindset
Ability to take ownership and follow through on actions
Consistent delivery of high standards
Ability to improve systems and adapt to changing priorities
Experience in supporting governance and compliance processes
