Project Engineer

Monument Chemical, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, serves the specialty chemicals industry and produces a variety of solvents and specialty products. They are seeking a detail-oriented project engineer to lead and execute projects in a specialty chemical plant environment, focusing on piping solutions and project documentation.

Responsibilities

Strong participation in decision making & determining solution for design and engineering issues
Assist project manager in developing bids, proposals, scopes of work, scope changes, correspondence, estimates, schedules, material list, design concepts, design drawings and other project documentation per corporate guidelines
Developing and updating Piping & Instrument Diagrams
Support determining equipment arrangements and piping routing from concept and P&IDs
Technical point of contact for clients and stakeholders
Cross functional communication and coordination with internal teams and vendors to ensure resource availability as needed
Assist with development of piping specifications and standards
Preparation of RFQ (Request for quotation), Bid evaluations
Maintain project files and documentation
Provide technical assistance and coordination with multiple disciplines for day-to-day project issues
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering – Mechanical, Construction, Industrial, Manufacturing or similar
1-3 years of experience in field project work, basic process design and layout, preferably within chemical or industrial settings
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD
Strong knowledge of piping specifications, materials, and routing practices
Chemical plant, refinery and heavy industrial piping, civil structural experience
Familiarity with process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Fostering unity in diverse groups
Self-starter able to work with limited information in a complex project landscape with minimum guidance
Strong Interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment
Familiarity with project management frameworks
