Chief Marketing Officer
Holt Street is a fast-growing ed-tech and children’s media startup seeking a dynamic, strategic Head of Marketing & PR. This role will lead brand, communications, events, and launch strategy, overseeing all marketing efforts and managing a high-performing team to drive awareness and engagement.
Responsibilities
Own and evolve the company’s brand identity, voice, and visual system across all channels
Develop high‑impact brand campaigns that resonate with students, families, educators, and sponsors
Oversee creation of marketing collateral, launch assets, pitch decks, and storytelling materials
Ensure brand consistency across product, marketing, events, and partnerships
Manage brand guidelines, asset libraries, and creative workflows for internal and external teams
Lead PR strategy to elevate the company’s presence in education, entertainment, and consumer media
Secure earned media through storytelling, founder positioning, and strategic outreach
Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, and industry voices
Develop messaging frameworks, press materials, talking points, and crisis communications plans
Prepare founders and spokespeople for interviews, panels, and public appearances
Architect and execute launch plans for new products, characters, partnerships, and major company milestones
Partner with Product to shape positioning, value propositions, and user‑facing messaging
Lead integrated campaigns across digital, experiential, community, and PR channels
Oversee event strategy — from school activations to sponsor showcases to large‑scale brand moments
Drive cross‑functional alignment to ensure cohesive, timely, and impactful launches
Develop strategies to grow awareness, organic reach, and brand affinity across key audiences
Oversee social media presence, influencer collaborations, and community‑building initiatives
Support creation of ambassador programs, user‑generated content campaigns, and educator engagement efforts
Partner with Customer Success and K–12 teams to amplify impact stories and field wins
Set KPIs for brand, PR, and marketing performance; analyze results and optimize continuously
Track brand sentiment, media coverage, engagement metrics, and campaign effectiveness
Manage vendor and agency relationships (PR firms, designers, event producers, etc.)
Lead, mentor, and grow a small marketing team, fostering creativity, accountability, and operational excellence
Build scalable processes, systems, and rituals that support rapid growth and high‑quality execution
Qualification
Required
7–10+ years of experience in marketing, brand, or communications roles, ideally within consumer brands, entertainment, CPG, fashion, or ed‑tech
Proven track record leading brand, PR, and go‑to‑market strategies for high‑growth organizations
Strong storytelling, writing, and creative direction skills
Experience managing and developing teams
Familiarity with CRM, marketing automation, and analytics tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics)
Demonstrated success driving earned media, influencer engagement, and community growth
Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels — from shaping brand vision to rolling up sleeves on execution
Exceptional project management, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills
Must be located in the Los Angeles area
Preferred
Experience in CPG, Gaming, or Fashion industries is strongly preferred
