Responsibilities

Teach college-level courses in-person on the main Virginia Western campus, as well as hybrid or distance learning/online courses
Maintain currency in teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education
Be an active participant in departmental communication
Perform other duties as assigned
Assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor

Required

Two years of related occupational experience
Transfer courses require a Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Information Systems Technology (IST), Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field
Other Information Systems Technology courses require a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Technology (IST), Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to write syllabi and exams
Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum and assessments
Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds

Preferred

Master's degree in the teaching field
Experience teaching in a college setting
Demonstrated skills in successfully working with diverse populations
Experience using technology in the classroom and teaching online
Occupational experience and current certifications in the topic of interest
