Responsibilities
Maintain and evolve a large Laravel 12 ecosystem with multiple subdomains and route domains
Build and maintain APIs consumed by iOS, Android, watchOS, and internal admin systems
Implement robust architecture using DTOs, API Resources, traits, enums, jobs, and caching strategies
Ship clean, maintainable, well-tested code using best practices (SOLID, DRY, PSR, Pint, feature tests, etc.)
Own the routing system that dynamically loads route files based on subdomain rules
Manage complex InertiaJS + Vue3 integrations for our admin tools and webviews
Ensure seamless behavior across Android/iOS webviews and browser contexts
Optimize database access (MSSQL), Eloquent relationships, indexing, and caching layers
Design and manage high-volume background jobs (e.g., Stripe renewal workflows, scheduled jobs, bulk emailing)
Maintain and optimize server infrastructure (EC2, ELB, Forge/Envoyer); familiarity with Laravel queues a plus for future scaling initiatives
Maintain integration with the legacy .NET API system
Integrate with third-party services including Stripe, Campaign Monitor/EventBridge, Golf Genius, and others
Build and maintain DTO pipelines for merging external data with our Course + Player models
Lead improvements to our coding standards, documentation, tests, and CI/CD workflows
Enhance internal tooling for logs, admin dashboards, data exports, auditing, and API responses
Provide guidance and mentorship to the rest of the team where needed
Work closely with mobile engineers to provide fast, reliable API endpoints
Collaborate with product and design on new features and projects
Participate in roadmap discussions and provide architectural direction and tradeoff analysis
Qualification
Required
5+ years of professional PHP experience, 3+ in Laravel
Strong experience with complex relational models and performance optimization
Deep understanding of jobs, caching, and scalable API design
Experience building Vue3 or InertiaJS views or willingness to learn quickly
Comfort working in AWS or similar cloud environments
Strong debugging skills across the stack
Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate across teams
Ownership mindset, comfortable being the primary subject-matter expert on a system
Preferred
Experience with MSSQL specifically
Experience with mobile webviews (iOS WKWebView / Android WebView quirks)
Experience integrating with legacy systems
Knowledge of Stripe billing, webhooks, or subscription systems
Experience with Histoire or component-driven UI stories
Familiarity with performance monitoring (DataDog, CloudWatch, etc.)
