Logistics Management Specialist (Assistant Chief Supply Chain Officer)
USAJOBS is seeking a Logistics Management Specialist to serve as the Assistant Chief Supply Chain Officer at the Northport VA Medical Center. Responsibilities
Integration - Resolves or contributes to the resolution of assigned high-priority logistics, supply, distribution, information or service problems through personal action or immediate coordination with required local personnel/activities. Establishes procedures for the integrated efforts of SCM operations with services throughout the VAMC and supported activities for mission essential deployment of SCM EMRT planning. Ensures that all assigned personnel and equipment are properly identified and prepared for deployment during simulated and actual emergency response exercises. Performs logistical assessments of strategic supply support in coordination with the supported customers and alerts management of systemic problems. Troubleshoots and resolves issues where supply chain deficiencies affect the mission. Develops designated supply input for fiscal year and long-range plans and programs, analyzing material for reasonableness, consistency, and validity of various assumptions
Analytics - Analyzes the effectiveness of logistics and vendor support services. Develops ongoing strategic analyses across supply chain activities and recommends solutions for improvements. Researches and studies private industry as well as Department of Veteran Affairs best practices to develop and apply concepts that best fit and support Supply Chain requirements. Supports long range supply chain requirements and interactions, optimizing supply chain support
Training and Customer Service - Develops logistics and supply chain management training opportunities and customer supply chain systems, programs, support offerings, supplies and services to collaborative partners and customers. Participates in the development of education and training documentation. Communicates with customers and personnel on the role logistics plays in maintaining comprehensive logistics support, operational readiness and sustainability
Performs other related duties as assigned

To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must meet have possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of a Logistics Management Specialist and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position
Specialized experience includes, serving as a team lead or senior specialist in supply chain management, assisting with the direction and control of logistics planning; analyze product delivery or supply chain processes to identify or recommend changes; performing data analysis, and statistical analysis to identify improvement opportunities
This position requires some degree of specialized knowledge and experience of logistics support activities in areas of acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and control, expendable and non-expendable equipment, and warehouse operations

Logistics experience across all areas of Supply Chain, to include the following, as well as Supervisory experience: Expendables, Non-Expendables, Contracting, Warehouse, Reproduction and Warehouse Operations
