Kovrr is seeking a part-time Cybersecurity Consultant with strong Private Equity experience to work closely with mid-market PE firms and their portfolio companies. This role involves advising investment teams and portfolio leadership on cybersecurity risk exposure, portfolio optimization, and resilience throughout the deal lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Advise mid-tier private equity firms on cybersecurity risk across pre- and post-investment stages
Lead and support cyber due diligence for acquisitions, including risk identification, maturity assessments, and deal impact analysis
Partner with PE operating teams and portfolio company leadership on:
Cyber risk reduction strategies
Security program optimization and prioritization
Value creation initiatives tied to cyber resilience
Assess and benchmark cybersecurity posture across portfolio companies, identifying systemic risks and opportunities for standardization
Translate technical cyber findings into executive- and investor-ready insights
Collaborate with internal teams to deliver data-driven, outcome-focused consulting engagements

Required

10+ years in cybersecurity consulting, advisory, or risk management
Direct experience working with private equity firms, specifically mid-market / mid-tier PEs
Proven background in cybersecurity risk assessments
Proven background in cyber due diligence
Proven background in portfolio-level risk analysis
Experience advising C-suite, investment teams, and operating partners
Strong understanding of cyber risk frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO, MITRE)
Strong understanding of enterprise security controls and threat landscapes
Strong understanding of business and financial impact of cyber risk
Ability to bridge technical depth and business strategy
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience supporting portfolio optimization or standardization initiatives
Familiarity with cyber risk quantification or financial modeling of cyber risk
Experience across industries common in mid-market PE portfolios (SaaS, healthcare, manufacturing, financial services, etc.)
