Senior Commercial Surety Underwriter - Hybrid

Jersey Hired is partnering with a premier, family-owned national property and casualty insurer to find a seasoned Senior Commercial Surety Underwriter. This role involves managing the full lifecycle of new and existing accounts while performing financial analysis and relationship building. The Senior Underwriter will be responsible for business development, risk analysis, and ensuring compliance with premium accuracy.

Responsibilities

Business Development: Proactively seek out renewal and new account opportunities, marketing independently to agent and broker partners with a focus on production
Risk Analysis: Perform in-depth financial and account analysis, ensuring all business meets authority and referral requirements
Market Presence: Act as a key contact for target accounts and work to enhance the firm's brand presence in the marketplace
Account Management: Rate and review bonds for premium accuracy and ensure all file documentation is complete and compliant
Workflow Leadership: Prioritize tasks to meet strict deadlines and provide quality recommendations to Branch and Home Office reports

Required

Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, OR 8 years of relevant bond underwriting experience
A minimum of 2 years of specific surety underwriting experience
Strong competency in quantitative/financial analysis and a high math aptitude
Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future VISA sponsorship requirements

Preferred

AFSB (Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding) industry designation
